Plum Crumble

Updated: Aug 20, 2023

We have a plum tree in our garden and this week we picked the plums and ended up with quite a haul!

I decided to make a crumble as I have so many plums and made some mini crumbles to go in the freezer.

I have just kept this recipe plain and simple but it would be easy to add ginger or cinnamon to the crumble mix to spice it up a bit.

You could serve it with cream or custard or both!!

Pre-heat the oven to 180 degrees centigrade (160 fan).

Chop and de-stone the plums and place in a medium sized heatproof dish.

Sprinkle with 35g of demerara sugar.

In a large bowl put the flour, butter and sugar.

Rub the butter into the flour and sugar until you have fine breadcrumbs.

Sprinkle the topping over the plums.

Bake for 45 minutes.

Serve warm with custard or cream.

You could add other fruits such as apple or pear with the plums if you like.

Spices work well in the crumble mixture you could add ginger or cinnamon - I would add a teaspoon or two!
